Members of the board directors and advisory board represent a broad network of state risk avoidance coalitions, medical and youth development organizations, and diverse professionals who offer valuable insight and guidance to Ascend. The board of directors, advisory board, and members of Ascend includes providers of risk avoidance programs, services, curriculum, and resources which may directly or indirectly receive government funds for the provision of programs and resources. The Ascend Board of Directors and Advisory Board Members are dedicated to maintaining and improving risk avoidance education programs nationally. Executive Director, Valerie Huber brings significant grass-roots and administrative experience to this position as former director of a community-based risk avoidance organization and former Title V Coordinator for the State of Ohio. Dr. Nanci Coppola, CEO of Program Reach, Inc is a member of the board of directors for the Ascend.
National Clearinghouse on Families & Youth The National Clearinghouse on Families & Youth (NCFY) is a free information service for communities, organizations, and individuals interested in developing new and effective strategies for supporting young people and their families. NCFY was established by the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to link those interested in youth issues with the resources they need to better serve young people, families, and communities.
National Physicians Center With the assistance of an international network of health experts, the National Physicians Center for Family Resources (NPC) promotes medically and scientifically valid practices in public health and child welfare and produces educational resources for families and health educators. NPC’s resources have been distributed in more than 40 countries.
American College of Pediatricians The American College of Pediatricians is a national organization of pediatricians and other healthcare professionals dedicated to the health and well-being of children. The College produces sound policy, based upon the best available research, to assist parents and to influence society in the endeavor of child-rearing.
